June Ey of Bluebell A1 Quilting is the maker of beautiful patchwork quilts.
I particularly love to use Japanese fabrics because of their quality and vibrant colours. They are extremely popular with my customers.
I have over 10 years experience in the manufacture of patchwork quilts. For the past few years I have been quilting with the A1 Quilting Machines and more recently with the Intelliquilter Computer system.
For the past few years I have sold my quilts at the Old Bus Depot Markets, Kingston and the Handmade Market, ACT and through these outlets I have developed a number of regular customers. Many tourists to Canberra have purchased my quilts to take home to other States within Australia and to overseas countries.
Most of my quilts are “one-offs” so you won’t find the same quilt for sale in the shops or craft markets.
I make quilts of various sizes – King, Queen, Double, Single, Bed Toppers, Lap Quilts, Chair protectors, Table cloths, Snuggle Quilts to keep you cosy in the cooler weather, Cot Quilts, and Wall hangings. Bed quilts are usually made with the Wool 60% & Polyester 40% wadding/batting. Wall hangings are usually made with Polyester 100%. The majority of fabric used is 100% cotton. Sometimes Poly/cotton is used for bindings and to complement the primary fabrics used in the quilts. Backing fabrics are 100% cotton. Many of my quilts use Japanese fabrics which are screen printed with gold metallic to give that “exotic” appearance. These are very popular with my customers.
I recommend bed quilts be Dry Cleaned because of their size to fit washing machines.
I am happy to post orders within Australia and overseas. The customer must pay postage and insurance charges at time of payment. Payment is required at time of order. I do not accept returns on my quilts because of health issues. Once a quilt has been used it cannot be re-sold as new which devalues the product. Cushions to match the quilts are sometimes available.
